West Coast Ag’s revolutionary products are free flowing powders that are mixed
with water to form solutions applied to fresh cut produces to extend shelf-life and quality.
When applied to field cored lettuce or topped and tailed romaine our product delays the
onset of enzymatic browning and pinking reactions. The solution is sprayed onto the fresh
cut surfaces of these produces immediately after harvest which creates a semi-permeable
membrane at the cut surface to retard respiration. For optimal results, the treated
produce should then be packaged in lined bins, transported and vacuum cooled within
2 to 4 hours post harvest. The bins should then be shipped to its final destination within
2 to 4 days. When properly treated, these produce will have a minimum processing shelf
life of 5 to 7 days.
When applied to carrots our product reduces blushing, discoloration, and desiccation while
extending shelf-life to 28 days minimum. When applied to onions and bell peppers our
product will prevent dehydration and maintain moisture.
